Tonight Isaiah and Iwatched a stupid movie on SCIFI about (among other things) a quest for the holy grail. While channel flipping, we found another movie, also about the holy grail. What gets me, is that for a topic that is so christian centric, jesus wasn't mentioned once in the skiffy movie and only in passing in the other. (yes, we are that talented, we watched two movies at once).
And the whole fascination with the topic confuses me anyway. Christians belive that they have salvation through Christ. That he was the son of god and the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. There are no magic trinkits in the religion. It's just by faith. There is also no way to "behave" your way to holiness. We believe all have sinned and fallen short and that nothing anyone can do or say or give will ever change that.
So in this movie all about how the holy grail went misisng and wont return until people are cleansed of their sins, I am confused. It showed some authority brow beating someone about what they are hiding or being dishonest about. And then the whole town's off looking for the grail because its going to save them from the pilagin hoard.
In the other movie the grail was some sort of euphamism for women or blood lines or sex or something and the Catholic church was an evil enterprise set on preventing the truth about christ from getting out.
Neither mentioned the fact that being a christian is all about practising faith and not about relics and rituals.
And the sad thing is that people will watch this stuff and think that is what the religion is about. It seems unfair. If someone made a movie that off the truth about jewish people or homosexual life, there would be protesting in the streets. BUt with christianity, its just another retelliing og a fairy tale.
